Hi Jason,

Android has built-in bootchart to understand all processes when booting up.
But I am not sure if this is what SKB QA need.

Note: this method requires a Linux PC to run bash script.
===================================
adb shell 'touch /data/bootchart/enabled'
adb reboot
./grab-bootchart.sh
grab-bootchart.sh (623 bytes)
#!/bin/sh
#
# This script is used to retrieve a bootchart log generated by init.
# All options are passed to adb, for better or for worse.
# See the readme in this directory for more on bootcharting.

TMPDIR=/tmp/android-bootchart
rm -rf $TMPDIR
mkdir -p $TMPDIR

LOGROOT=/data/bootchart
TARBALL=bootchart.tgz

FILES="header proc_stat.log proc_ps.log proc_diskstats.log"

for f in $FILES; do
    adb "${@}" pull $LOGROOT/$f $TMPDIR/$f 2>&1 > /dev/null
done
(cd $TMPDIR && tar -czf $TARBALL $FILES)
bootchart ${TMPDIR}/${TARBALL}
gnome-open ${TARBALL%.tgz}.png
echo "Clean up ${TMPDIR}/ and ./${TARBALL%.tgz}.png when done"
grab-bootchart.sh (623 bytes)

Hi Jason,

It is only for system booting time, not including AV or UI.
bootchart.png is located on your local directory.

There is additional executable binaries to run the script.
1. You need to put 'bootchart' in /usr/bin/ folder.
2. Install python tool by command below
sudo apt-get install pybootchartgui
bootchart (804 bytes)
#!/usr/bin/python
#
# This file is part of pybootchartgui.

import sys
from pybootchartgui.main import main

if __name__ == '__main__':
	sys.exit(main())
bootchart (804 bytes)

Hi kerwin

so if we measure a booting time include AV and UI in a console not GUI type, is there a method ?
if you need to help from TVS or Digicap, I will ask it to them.

Thanks

Hi Jason,

Application can get system time directly to measure time after video frame is presented.
(Ex: https://developer.android.com/reference/android/util/TimingLogger)
I think you should ask help from Digicap or TVS.

Thanks !
